Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and bid documents for Canadian residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to assess project scope, risks, and requirements.
- Collaborate with Canadian project managers, engineers, and contractors to clarify details and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date cost databases, pricing references, and supplier contacts relevant to the Canadian construction market.
- Support value engineering initiatives by recommending cost-effective materials and methods to optimize project budgets.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian building codes, industry standards, and best practices in all estimating activities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and templates.
- Perform additional tasks and special projects as required to support project success and client needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a construction estimator, preferably with exposure to Canadian or North American projects.
- Proficiency in Tradesmen software (required); experience with other estimating tools such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or CostX is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and pricing trends within the Canadian market.
- Exceptional numerical accuracy, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and backup system to ensure timely and uninterrupted project delivery.
